The Bia East District Assembly on Friday, 16th October 2026, participated in the Regional budget hearing held at the Bia West District Assembly as part of preparations for the 2027 financial year. The meeting brought together representatives from Juaboso, Bia East and Bia West districts to present and deliberate on their respective Draft Composite Budgets. A team from the Regional Office presided over the proceedings, facilitating the budget presentations and discussions.
Bia East District was the second district to present its Draft Composite Budget, following Juaboso District. The Bia East delegation comprised the District Chief Executive, Hon. Francis Amankwah; the District Coordinator, Mr. Abukari Baba; and the heads of department and heads of unit of the Assembly.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Francis Amankwah, was called upon to lead the presentation and subsequently invited the District Budget Analyst, Mr. Peter Mensah, to read the budget on behalf of the Assembly.
The presentation outlined the Assembly’s proposed budget allocations, revenue projections, programmes and projects for the 2027 financial year. Key priorities include education, health, agriculture and agribusiness, water and sanitation, social protection, infrastructure and local governance.
Major projects captured in the proposed budget include the completion of a model market under the 24-hour economy initiative at Adabokrom, the construction of two CHPS compounds with staff accommodation and mechanised water systems, the provision of educational infrastructure, and the development of water facilities to improve access to potable water. The budget also includes the proposed construction of a liquid waste disposal site at Adabokrom and other sanitation interventions aimed at protecting public health and improving environmental conditions.
To strengthen its internally generated revenue, the Assembly outlined proposed revenue mobilisation strategies under the 24-hour economy initiative. These target economic activities such as market trading, lorry park operations, daily sales and timber-related businesses. The strategies are intended to broaden the Assembly’s revenue base and support the financing of its planned programmes and projects.
The budget hearing provided a platform for the three participating districts to present their proposed budgets and discuss their priorities for the coming financial year. Through its 2027 Draft Composite Budget, the Bia East District Assembly has outlined its planned expenditure and revenue mobilisation measures, with emphasis on essential services, infrastructure and local economic activity
