About this department
Bia East sits within one of Ghana’s most important forest landscapes, and the Natural Resource Department is responsible for helping the district use those resources sustainably.
It works with the Forestry Commission, traditional authorities and communities on forest and wildlife protection, reclamation of degraded land, control of illegal mining and logging, and protection of rivers and water bodies.
The Department also promotes climate-smart practices such as agroforestry on cocoa farms.
