Civil registration of births and deaths, issuance of certificates and maintenance of vital statistics records.
About this department
The Birth & Death Department is the district’s civil registration office. Registering a birth or death is a legal requirement and the certificate is needed for school admission, passports, inheritance and many other purposes.
The office registers events, issues certificates, corrects entries where permitted by law, and maintains the district’s vital statistics records.
Births and deaths should be reported as soon as possible after the event to avoid late registration procedures.
