In a major effort to empower local youth, foster entrepreneurship, and reduce unemployment, the Bia East District Assembly, in collaboration with the Regional Youth Employment Authority (YEA), has presented start-up equipment and tools to beneficiaries across the district. The initiative aims to equip young artisans and skilled workers with essential tools to establish sustainable self-employment ventures, boost local enterprise, and improve economic livelihoods within the Bia East District.
The presentation ceremony was attended by leadership from the District Assembly, Regional and District YEA officials and proud beneficiaries.

The start-up kits provided spanned various artisanal and technical trades, including sewing machines, hairdryers, catering equipment, carpentry tools, and repair kits tailored to the trade areas of the trained beneficiaries. Prior to receiving the tools, beneficiaries underwent comprehensive training modules designed to equip them with practical craftsmanship as well as basic financial management and business operations skills. The initiative focuses on bridging the rural youth unemployment gap by transforming local skill holders into self-reliant entrepreneurs and job creators.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony, the Hon. DCE highlighted that youth employment and vocational skills development remain pivotal to the district’s overall growth strategy.
“Empowering our youth with practical skills and the necessary tools to build their own businesses is one of the most effective ways to drive local economic growth. Through this partnership with the Youth Employment Authority, we are ensuring that our young men and women become self-sufficient contributors to the development of Bia East.”
The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the Bia East District Assembly and the Regional YEA for supporting their career aspirations. Many noted that acquiring the start-up tools had been a major hurdle to starting their businesses, and the gesture provides them with a fresh start toward economic independence.
