In line with the Hon. District Chief Executive’s commitment to improving educational outcomes and ensuring access to quality basic education, Hon. Francis Amankwaa, together with officers from the District Education Directorate and the Assembly, has embarked on a comprehensive familiarization tour of selected basic and senior high schools across the Bia East District.

The working tour was aimed at gaining first-hand insight into the operational environment of schools, assessing existing infrastructural conditions, engaging head teachers and staff, and evaluating the immediate challenges affecting teaching and learning in rural communities.

The DCE inspected existing classroom blocks, staff accommodation, toilet facilities, and ICT labs to identify critical structural deficits requiring urgent Assembly intervention or rehabilitation. Hon. Francis Amankwaa held interactive sessions with head teachers, staff, and pupils to hear directly about pressing operational challenges, including textbook shortages, furniture deficits, and teacher accommodation constraints.

Addressing pupils across the visited schools, the DCE encouraged them to remain disciplined, focus on their academic work, and strive for excellence in their upcoming internal and national examinations. He continued that management “cannot design effective educational policies sitting in their offices without stepping onto the ground to see the daily realities facing both teachers and the pupils. This familiarization exercise allows us to prioritize our budgetary interventions, allocate furniture and resources where they are needed most, and ensure that every child in Bia East learns in a safe and supportive environment.”

The District Director of Education expressed sincere gratitude to the Hon. DCE and the District Assembly for prioritizing on-the-ground monitoring. The directorate noted that working closely with Assembly management will help streamline project delivery, address resource gaps, and lift academic performance metrics across the district.
